    These 16" gun turrets constitute the main battery of the ship. The guns can hurl 24,300 of steel at the enemy every 30 seconds to a range of 21 miles. The turret extends 5 decks down and is protected with 18" armor on the front face and 17 to 11 inches all the way down. 140 men are requied to man a turret.

    Flag Plot is the tactical and navigational center of the ship during World War II. Virtually a carbon copy of the Combat Information Center, Flag Plot was the Admiral's combat intelligence gathering office, with radar equipment, plotting devices, radios, repeater compasses and other communication equipment.

    Each 16" shell weighs 2,700 pounds, is over 6' tall, and can hit targets 21 miles away. This room is inside one of the turrets, one floor up from the power room.
